Our Philosophy
At Counselling Moray, we believe that everyone has the ability to lead a happy and fulfilling life. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that mental and emotional well-being are integral to overall health, and that therapy can be a powerful tool for achieving this balance.
What will the Counselling involve?
Every person is different, and the session/s will be tailored to suit you. Some people choose to speak about past experiences, as well as current issues. You may wish to discuss how your current thoughts are affecting how you are feeling right now. The initial session will last for up to 30 minutes, and any following session/s will last for up to one hour.
We use a variety of evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy, to help our clients overcome negative thought patterns and behaviours. We believe in a holistic approach to mental health; most importantly working in a way that suits you!
Who is this service for?
This service is available for anyone over the age of 16, regardless of race, religion, gender, marital status, or sexual orientation.
During my career, I have enjoyed working with people of different ages, backgrounds, and from various parts of the country. As well as providing Private Counselling, I am currently employed with a local College, providing a counselling service for students and staff. Previously, I was based at a local GP practice, where patients were referred to me by their GP for Counselling. I have had seven years' experience of working in an Addiction Service, supporting people in their recovery from alcohol or drug misuse. This involved working with people on a one-to-one basis, using psychosocial intervention techniques. I facilitated weekly SMART (self-motivational and recovery training). This involved working with people in a group setting, using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). My career started with the Royal Navy, after which I served in the Ministry of Defence Police.
